This train route is considered the most beautiful in the world – and the tracks of this fabulous little train seem to touch the sky. The railway is truly unique: locomotives and carriages reminiscent of toys, small train stations, incredibly narrow bends, viaducts and tunnels with impressive gradients.
The most spectacular ride through the Alps encompasses different languages and cultures. It leads up the mountain towards the Bernina glaciers all the way to the Lake St. Moritz in the Engadine valley. 55 tunnels, 196 viaducts and gradients of up to 70 per mille await you. The highest point is the Ospizio Bernina station at 2,253 metres above sea level.
The experience is even more impressive in the panorama carriages, from which you can enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the passing landscape. The most beautiful panoramas? Lake Poschiavo, the Alp Grüm viewpoint, Lago Bianco, the imposing Morteratsch Glacier and the Bernina Range with Piz Bernina, the only four-thousander in the Central Alps.

"Very convenient for the slopes and with pleasant public areas and great swimming pool/spa/sauna, this hotel was a great base for our skiing weekend. "The hotel service at Albergo Spol is nothing but amazing. Very professional, super friendly staff. Amazing breakfast and especially dinner (just wow - they can they cook!). Always a surprise (and sort of artwork) on a plate. Ideally located close to centre and ski area. Cosy wellness which is not too crowded (even in high season) and would recommend a relaxing massage (reasonable price). We are definitely coming back next year. Tip for travellers: ask for a renovated room - looks like a dream! Thank you Hotel Spol for making our vacation so enjoyable"
"We stayed at Hotel Spol 11-17. March 2023, received a warm wellcome, when arriving, got a nice room, and on top of that, which we did not know, Spol had a fantastic restraurant, serving an excellent 5 course dinner, and as well a nice breakfast buffet, the only thing is that you spend too much time in the morning eating, instead of skiing, due to the good food."
